Originally established in 1983, Cempaka International School is a fully operational K–13 school located in an upscale suburb of Kuala Lumpur. Since August 2023, the school has adopted the Finnish curriculum and school model, which emphasises a child-centred approach and active, hands-on learning through team-teaching methods. The vision of the school is to foster the joy of learning through these innovative approaches.

This Finnish-inspired programme is now fully operational in Years 1–7 and will expand to include Years 8–9 in subsequent years. While the Primary School (Years 1–6) follows the Finnish curriculum adapted to the Malaysian context, the lower secondary programme offers a combination of the Finnish school model and the Cambridge syllabus.
